Overall GPA:91/100 Did bad freshman year, but doing A LOT better since then. If you take out the freshman grades I would probably have a 93 or 94

Also, I am in a Math Intel Class which is for a nationally reknowned competition.

AP Statistics - 5

Recs/Essays: - My Recs and Essays are going to be awesome.

If you’re worried about money/FA, I would not apply ED (bc you might pass up better deals that other colleges might offer you) UNLESS you really want to go to JHU, regardless of the money situation.

SAT’s are kind of low, being Asian won’t help. Hopkins recommends 3 SAT II’s, just so you know. It’s not mandatory, but I’d take that into consideration.

As for everything else, you’re in range but Hopkins looks at an application holistically so all you can really do is try your best and hope they like you. Oh, and get good senior year grades. That always looks good.

what if i go to JHU for business and take pre-med classes on top of it since i AM interested in business but want to become a doctor in the future

would this increase my chances since im not looking to become a bio major

JHU doesn’t have a business major (or a pre-med major for that matter). It does have an entrepreneurship and management minor (which I have heard good things about), and many JHU alums have successful business careers, but you can’t “go to JHU for business”, per se.

I don’t think it would help much to indicate on your application that you want to study business. Sure, being interested in an uncommon field can be a plus for you in admissions - but only if you have a strong documented interest (related ECs, classes, summer activities, etc). Otherwise people would try to game the system and claim to be interested in studying classics or something. If your ECs are all related to math and medicine, it would look kind of disingenuous/unfocused if you claimed to be passionate about studying business.

There are better schools to go to if you’re interested in business but want to become a doctor in the future. JHU is an awesome place to be pre-med, but it’s not the only good pre-med school, or necessarily the best pre-med school for everyone, or a guarantee that you will get into med school. You may be better off going to a school with an actual undergraduate business degree and good pre-med advising.
