Poor semester due to illness

What is the best way to address a semester of illness in college applications? My daughter is a strong overall student, but she had mono one semester and it caused her grades to drop just a little bit. The drop is not terribly significant – basically about a 3.3 semester when she’s usually a 3.6 student. She attends a top private school, where a 3.6 is considered an excellent average. Should she address this in her application or just let it go? Her grades before and after the illness are consistent, so the one semester stands out as an aberration.

Have the GC address it in their recommendation.

Agree with the above. Be sure the GC is aware of the situation now – don’t spring it on him/her right before recommendations are due. If your D uses a teacher from this year to write a LOR the teacher might make note it as well. And since your D is at a top private school your GC should be able to provide sound advice.
