Poor Test Center

So I took the ACT today, and the room I was assigned to was the lecture hall at the school. Im not sure why they didnt just use individual classrooms, but whatever. The room was like an auditorium set up, and the desks that we had to write on were the tiny fold out things on the side. They could barely fit a piece of paper, let alone the answer sheet, test book, and a calculator. Because we had no desk room to take our tests i feel i did really bad. I spent most of the time juggling around my answer sheet, test book, and calculator (for math), and ran out of time on most sections because of this. I thought this set up for the test was completely rediculous, and to make it even worse I was assigned one of the left handed ones so I had to twist my body in order to write. Does the ACT have any regulation on how big the desks must be? I felt that myself and everyone else in the room werent given a fair opportunity to take the test because of how small the desks were causing us to have to juggle everything around. Is this something I should complain to ACT about?

I'd suggest you write to ACT, you might be able to get your money back, and also, the problem probably won't happen for the next test takers at that location.

Didn't your test have like "student review questions" on it? Mine did, and one question was Did you have enough room? or something.

thats how our testing center was too... we were in a small room and the desk size was a little bigger than the mouthpad lol. so i used other desk to make room, but still it was awful.

I would have pulled out the desk next to me, except I was next to the wall and couldn't. I am going to write a letter to ACT, but im still upset that one of my chances got ruined, especially since I cant retake it again. If they do let me get my money back will I be able to see my scores first and then decide, or not. Looks like ill have to try to take SAT next saturday standby.

You probably won't get to choose after you see your scores.

I had a football game going on outside my testing room and I could hear the guy announcing it inside the room loud and clear. At least he stopped talking partway through the test.

by any chance was this at

CSU East Bay.

The desk were HELLA SMALL AND LEFT SIDE DESKS!

I'll always make sure to bring a jacket, because at times I was shivering in my test center, especially at the beginning. Then they opened up the doors, thankfully. Why don't they list it on the sheet? There should be an amendment to the What To Bring category:
"Bring a Jacket; your room will most likely be colder than Dante's version of Hell. ACT is not responsible for frozen brains affecting your composite scores."

^Lol I was at the school cafeteria and as you know, it is always cold there (to preserve last year's hot dogs for this year ;P) and we checked the themometer in the middle of the break and it was 58 degrees. Oh and someone's phone went off in the middle of math test.
