Poor undergrad record, admission to top MBA?

Hi,

My undergraduate record was poor (sub-3.0 GPA) but upward trending and have a personal circumstance that partially explains poor first two years of u-grad. Since, have solid work experience in real estate financial analysis, good grades in two masters programs (one in finance, one in engineering, overall GPA ~3.6) and GMAT over 700.

With this profile, will my undergrad performance make me ineligible for top 25 b-schools? Top 50?

Any feedback is well appreciated.

Thanks.

It depends on how much below 3 your GPA is. If its 2.9 or 2.8, then you have a shot at top 25, and a good chance for top 50 schools. If you went to a top 15ish undergrad, then you will have a good chance at top 25.

Thanks very much for the feedback. Do grades in masters programs matter?

I would think those Masters programs would trump the UG…especially making a 3.6+ in an engineering Masters program.

A 700+ puts you in elite standing. At the very least, I would expect you to have a great shot at schools in the 15-25 range.
