In the Common App Extracurriculars section, there is a spot for listing the positions held. Would it be redundant to list things like volunteer, member, golfer, traveler, dancer, etc. on the different ECs under positions held? Or are they just looking for leadership/unique positions in that section? I'm still describing the activity under "details and accomplishments" regardless if the section is empty

It really depends on the activity. How long you have been doing it…etc. The common application that you should only list principle activities. If you have been a dancer for years and a member of the golf team all through high school than absolutely list those. If you volunteered once for a school club than don’t list that. You can only list up to 10 activities so pick the 10 that you have been most dedicated to especially in high school.

What I meant is that I’m listing these activities regardless of what I put under “positions held”. Like I’m still putting that I golf and dance. But under positions held do I list myself as ‘golfer’ and ‘dancer’ or is that redundant when I’ve already explained what it is in the description? Would the ‘positions held’ only be for leadership positions and such?

If you compete individually, it is different from being part of your school team. So you would say team member vs solo for either a golfer or a dancer.

Yes, do was texaspg said. Don’t worry about things be redundant unless its in an essay. You will not be rejected because you were redundant on the EC section of the common app. And sorry I was a little confused by your first post.
