Hey guys,
I was recently accepted to my ED school (a T10). The problem is, mid-year reports are due soon and I’ll likely be ending this first semester with a C+ in AP Physics C – I have a chance to bring it up to a B- with the final, but chances are looking slim (the rest of my grades are all right). I was hoping to get some opinions from folks who know more about these kinds of situations – should I be expecting a warning letter, or a revocation of my ED acceptance? I am also a recruited athlete, although not D1, if that’s relevant…
I do not think you will be rescinded! I’m in a similar position. I got into Santa Clara University early decision with a 3.75 UW GPA. 4.0 W GPA, and a 32 ACT for computer science and engineering. This semester I was really ambitious with my classes (4 APs and 1 regular class) but because of a combination of senioritis and a bad mental state due to situations at home, my grades suffered. I think I will end up with a 3.2 UW and 4.2 W this semester. Will I get rescinded?
As mentioned above, no D/F grades, no felonies, or expulsion. As long as you maintain over a 3.0 UW there should not be issues with being rescinded.
No Ds, Fs or acts of dishonesty, discrimination or aggression.
Does the admission offer give any specific grade or GPA thresholds you need to fulfill? If so, check whether you are in danger of not fulfilling them.
Otherwise, do not get a D or F grade, and do not let your 12th grade GPA drop by a lot compared to the GPA that they saw when admitting you. Typically, one C grade with the rest of your grades similar to before is unlikely to be seen as a big enough drop for rescission.
Also, do not get into the news in a bad way (criminal activity, boorish social media scandals, etc.).
