Hi - I was wondering what is the possibility of getting accepted again to a college that I was once admitted to? I applied to Rutgers for the Fall of 2013 (and was accepted,) but I decided to attend a community college for a year. I've applied again for the Fall 2014, so do I have chance of getting in again with my transfer GPA of 3.67? Will they see my previous application/decisions and make an automatic decision of "denied?"

They will not automatically deny admission just because you didn’t enroll last fall. Don’t worry about that.

Whether or not you are admissible now will depend on their transfer admissions criteria. It really, truly is OK to pick up the phone, and call the transfer admissions office and discuss your concerns with them.

Good luck!

Transfer is a different game. I don’t think a previous decline would affect that.

Happymomof1 - If I was denied for some reason, how would I go about in calling the? Should I just explain why I didn’t attend with hopes that something will happen?

Billcsho - I wasn’t declined, but accepted to enroll for Fall of 2013. Due to some personal problems, I chose not to attend. I was thinking that maybe they wouldn’t admit me again.

It’s very common for applicants to have been accepted at the state flagship, but opt for a CC/ directional to initially save money and then transfer to the same flagship after 1-3 years.

There are many reasons for choosing another school, colleges won’t hold that against you.
