Hi. ok my question is that is whats my best option in this situation?

I'm a college freshman at FDU. And my fam wants me to transfer to Rutgers because its closer. I applied to that college when I was a high school senior, didnt get in because of bad grades..low gpa. I had a 2.56..something like that. Anyways I'm already into my 2nd semester at FDU. In my first semester I didn't do so well. I ended up with a 1.86 gpa. Yes ik very bad. Like any college they only accept transfer credits of grades of C or better. Well to get that gpa...i didnt get a c or better. In one class I got a D. and then two i believe I got a C-. What should I do in this situation? Please help.

If you were initially denied admission to Rutgers as a freshman (low HS gpa) and your current freshman college gpa is low, I seriously doubt that you will be accepted as a transfer student into Rutgers right now. You haven’t proven to them that you can successfully handle the academics.

You may want to consider attending a local community college for your sophomore year while living at home. Earn a strong gpa at the community college and then try to transfer into Rutgers.

Yea that does seem the way to go. And also if i transfer to a community college, how will my credits work out? and if they also don’t accept my lower grades of D an C-, would I have to start all over? As a freshman sort of speak.

I suggest calling the community college where you plan to transfer and speak directly with someone in their admission’s office. Students transfer from 4-year colleges into community colleges quite often and they should know how to advise you. Before you call, write down all of your questions so you won’t forget to ask them.
