Hi all, I have been studying to take two subject tests in January, but at this point I’m not sure if I’ll have enough time to fully prepare myself and get good scores. I know that Brown (as well as some other Ivies) do not explicitly require subject tests IF I take ACT w/Writing (I got a 35), but am I at a huge disadvantage? I’d rather send in no SAT IIs than send in bad scores. Have people for either the Class of 2017 or the ED Class of 2018 (either for Brown or for other Ivies/Top 10 schools) gotten accepted and they only sent in ACT w/Writing? Please let me know because I only have 10 days left to decide whether to take my tests! :S

You well likely may be rejected but it won’t be because of your lack of SAT IIs. You may well be rejected even with a 35 ACT but it won’t be because of the score.

Brown is not trying to trick you. When they say ACT + Writing is sufficient THEY MEAN EXACTLY THAT.

Skip the SAT IIs unless you need them for another school.

Thank you! I think I’ll keep on studying and see how I’m feeling on the 27th, but I won’t feel as pressured/worried if I end up not taking them. :)

This reassured me! I only took the SAT II’s for Stanford with no studying and taking none of those classes this year. Suddenly, I got worried that not having SAT II’s would hurt my chances at other schools like Brown. But they do say that ACT w/ Writing counts instead.
