Hi guys,

I am currently a Freshman at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA. I am wondering if it looks better as a transfer student post freshman yr or post sophomore yr or does it matter for CMC? I hear that it is slightly easier to transfer as a junior. First semester I got a 3.6 gpa and am involved in many leadership roles already. I have an excellent internship lined up this summer in Beverly Hills as well. If I keep these grades and stay involved do you guys think I have a good shot for transfering to CMC for junior yr?

Thanks lemme know

Oh yeah, you should have no problem transferring. My recommendation would be to try and transfer as soon as possible, especially if you can pay your own way. (CMC is expanding and took more than 60 transfers last year.)

You should definitely apply to transfer after freshman year if you can. Like the above post said, CMC is accepting more transfers because they opened a new dorm (or at least they accepted more this past year).

yeah, what are the chances that CMC is going to accept the same amount of transfer?
ive been getting mixed answers about this topic. im applying for transfer as well.

Well last year they accepted a bunch of transfers (like 50 some) but according to another thread on this forum they only have room for 20 transfers this year....

that 20 transfers statement hasn't really been checked for accuracy... and I don't have an exact estimate range of how many they will accept BUT, from working with admissions, I am 100% sure that they will definitely accept LESS transfers than last year.

About the expansion statement made earlier... yes CMC is trying to expand... but they kind of over-expanded within just this one year. The admission rate of the freshman class if much lower because they're trying to yield a smaller class than 2012. We had a housing crunch this year because over 120 juniors went abroad, making the admin think that they could take in 320 freshmen. They were sort of off as there was a bit of overcrowding when 2nd semester rolled around and all them came back, while less than 45 juniors (not sure on this number, but it's way smaller than 120 forsure) are studying abroad in the spring.

Bottom line: The expansion is happening slowly but surely. CMC isn't necessarily going to admit more students each year in its endeavors to expand.

There was an e-mail from Pam Gann I believe about having room for 20 transfers meaning probably 30-35 will be accepted. No clue how many applications they have for transfer this year or how much of an impact ability to pay will have on admissions at CMC.
