hi! im a chemical engineer coming in to UCI as a freshmen.

i was wondering if you could check my schedule and tell me if the workload is too much? im really really intimidated by everyone looking at my schedule and telling me that im screwed for this quarter…

Since you’ll be taking ENGRMAE 10 instead of EECS 10 and Physics 2, you will be given a little leeway. It’s a doable schedule, but, as I’ve said many times to others, try to schedule it to take it easy your first year without falling behind pre-reqs (i.e. ENGRMAE 10 is not needed for other MAE courses). Ease into the college experience so it doesn’t hit you hard.

does it get easy as college goes on? i went to spop and they showed us average gpas of engineering students from freshman to senior year. It was like they were trying to scare us and crush our hopes of post undergraduate education lol.

hmm as a chemical engineer, we were instructed (by a piece of paper…) that taking engrmae10 was a must. i didn’t know that engrmae10 and eecs10 we’re interchangeable credit wise. i know that one relates to mechanical and aerospace, and the other electrical, but to be honest, one of them HAS to be more convenient for a chemical engineer. which one is it?

ENGRMAE10 is a must, but it is not a pre-requisite for any class. You should be able to put it off. EECS 10 and MAE10 are only interchangeable for non-EECS majors. ENGRMAE10 is programming in fortran which is totally obsolete while EECS 10 is programming in C. Both languages are useless to you, but apparently they are teaching MATLAB which is useful for all engineers. You should go for that one.
