Hi!
I have been trying to find a set number of colleges to apply to but my current list has quite a bit of dream schools on it.
What are some UC’s (preferably) or CSU’s that could be safety or target schools for me?
GPA: 4.52 W, 4.0 UW
SAT: 1250
SAT II: 780 in US History
ACT: 27
Class Rank: 6/60
EC’s: quite good
Intended Major: Political Science or International Relations
Thank you so much!
I am also planning on retaking my ACT and taking the SAT II biology subject test (hoping for 700+)
Try UCSB, UCSD, UCSC and UC Irvine. Your SAT is not tippy-top at SB and SD, but still within range! It’s not a UC or a CSU but you might want to look at Occidental College. I hear they have great PoliSci and international resources.

Although UCs are less SAT/ACT sensitive than most colleges (they tend to be more GPA sensitive, so your 4.0 unweighted GPA is definitely a good thing if you have a reasonable number of honors courses in your record), a higher score is better, especially if yours is on the lower end of the range (the ranges are shown at http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/profiles/index.html ).
your SAT is a little light but, you should be in the running for all the UCs. They can be finicky though so, apply broadly.
SDSU would certainly be a worth-while safety.
Good luck
Essentially it all comes down to your act now. Hit a 32 and up and you’ll be far more competitive for every UC. At a 27, I’d say you’re still a solid bet for UCSB and UC Davis with that GPA. Safeties, as of now, would be UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside, SDSU, and pretty much all cal states other than cal poly slo. Decide what you want to major in and look up which CSUs have strong programs for it.
Keep in mind that CSU’s superscore so continue to work on your standardized test scores.
thank you so much everyone!
