Hi, I am new to the whole CC thing but here goes nothing...

I am a junior and I am from India.

My Green Card (permenant residency status) is still under process. Its in the last step and is estimated that I will receive it by 2008. I read on the MIT website that Int'l students can't apply ED or EA. Yet, I have heard that ED or EA boosts chances of getting in by a little. Can I still apply or do I have to go thru RD?

You can only apply EA if you are a US citizen or permanent resident with green card. Otherwise you must wait for RD to apply. (And MIT only has EA, not ED.)

EA at MIT does not help your chances like it does at other schools. If you get deferred however (like most people do), you can do more to add to your application file.

The true advantage to getting your green card won't be getting to apply early (which really doesn't help your chances at all), but rather (if I recall correctly) that it puts you into the domestic pool, where you will be unaffected by the international quota.
