I got accepted into the School of Music, but I was wondering whether I could apply to the business school for the sophomore year, and double degree in both business and music at the same time. Thanks!

I know someone who was first admitted to the school of music then doubled in business. Not sure if he did that in sophomore year though, I remember it was his junior year that he did so.

Out of curiosity, why? What are you planning on doing with these two degrees?

i know one guy who did a double major in business and jazz piano. He ended up going into investment banking after graduating, so he didn’t technically do anything with the music degree, but he is a sweet pianist now.

Yerda, take a look at the student handbook – it’s posted online at [UM School of Music, Theatre & Dance](http://music.umich.edu) under the student resources.
I believe it is possible but will obviously take extra time, and I think it is specifically referred to in the handbook. Also note I believe there are some specific music business courses available under elections across fields that may interest you. Discuss your goals with your counselor during orientation and if you need extra advice, see the registrar, DeeDee, in the fall.
And, FWIW, I think it’s an excellent degree combo that opens up a lot of arts administration opportunities. Note that there is also an arts admin program under the musical arts degree, I believe.

Best wishes!

Thanks for the replies and information! Greatly appreciated.
I hope to combine my strengths in both music and business in order to establish a business using my musical knowledge and talent as a base to understand customers wants, or something of that nature.
