Possible transfer - App State or UNCC

I am currently a freshman studying at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC). I chose this school originally because:
1. It's close to home/ Commuting from home is easy and cheap
2. I'm able to have a part-time job
3. I can afford to bring my car.
4. I have extra money to do side things (sorority, study abroad) in the future.

I'm considering transferring to Appalachian State University because I love the area and I am not a nightlife person/ city dweller. I am also very outdoorsy and when I'm at Charlotte there is not much to do around the area, unless you join some clubs who go out once in awhile.

I got accepeted as a transfer to App State originally as an International Business major, but I would rather be a History major with a possibility of a teaching licensure and either a double major or a minor in business or international studies.

I am not a big party person, nor am I a into drugs, but I can cope. What I really want to know is with my possible majors and minors where my best opportunities would be, and how hard it would be to study abroad at Appalachian. Another thing also is I wont be able to bring my car, and I hate the idea of being far away from home/ not commuting.

The big idea is:
Is Appalachian State University a good school for the majors I listed (History, International Studies, & Business).
AND
Is it worth to transfer to App from Charlotte and start over, with no job, and spending top of my budget?
My dream is to study abroad and I would like to know what the best opportunity would be for me at what school.

Although as a future student of Appalachian I have a biased opinion, I think it would be worth it.

App has all 3 majors that you’ve listed. The Walker College of Business is, in particular, known as a good program, but there’s a great Government Studies (where the International Studies major is) and History department as well. I plan to major in Political Science and from what I’ve seen the department is great.

You don’t have to be big into drugs or partying to be social at App, there are a LOT of clubs and activities, and I know lots of people there who never party but have a lot of friends and find lots to do. Outdoor is obviously great, from skiing and snowboarding to hiking and kayaking, if you love the outdoors there isn’t anywhere better than App. For study abroad, about 1000 Appalachian students do short or long term programs each year in over 50 different countries, they’re available to anyone with a 2.75 or higher GPA. I know someone who did a long-term program, was able to get enough financial aid to make it affordable, and still graduated on time.

For employment, 23% of App students are involved in Work Study, there are a LOT of positions around campus. And off-campus Boone is a vibrant, growing college town with a lot of jobs. For transportation, I don’t see why you couldn’t bring your car, but the AppalCart network is great and it’s free with stops all around Boone, and for a low price there are buses that will take you to other cities in the state (The one to Charlotte is only $13 and runs 7 days a week)

I love Appalachian, and I think it’s a great choice. There’s a lot of opportunity and I think you will be able to adjust quickly.
