Well, I got the letter telling me I made the preliminary rounds. Does anyone know what the usual score is for getting semi-finalist? I got a 213, 98%, and I live in a pretty dumb state (FL). I really want this semi-finalist, because I know I have the EC's and other stats to get me through the other rounds.

I got a the "two-college letter" today, though I am very surprised that I did. I only have a 207 in CA, which is not high at all.

500,000 would be completely meaningless

Yeah, you're right.

I think my state (AR) is one of the dumbest. Last year our cutoff was low 200s, high 100s or something like that.

Okay, so I looked at the cutoff for semis, and for my state (FL), it has been 214 for the past two years, one point above my score. So I was thinking, "okay, maybe the scores have gone down in some states and maybe that will happen this year in Florida." Well just kidding, because in every state except 3, either the cutoff scores stayed the same or they went up from 2004-2005. So, hopefully the class of '07 was not as smart, at least in Florida, or they took into account the bazillion kids that move here every year. idk, I guess I will have to wait until September to find out.

I got a 212 in Michigan. In 2003 the cut-off was 209, 210 in 2004, and 211 in 2005. I really hope I get semifinalist. 98%ile

no one has answered what commended will be ...
I am depressed seeing all of y'alls scores... (198)
it's great, because I mis-bubbled 5 of them and would have gotten them right... I do that...

There are 15 kids from my son's class who got notice today (NY). He got a 226. Does anyone know what the NY state cutoff for semifinalist might be?

@relaxdad...i believe the cutoff for newyork for last year was 218 or some number close to that...nevertheless...if you get any score that is 225+...you can probably consider your self a lock for semi...

97 percentile (208) won't make semi-finalist, will it?

Depends on your state, sharpielove.

how do some of you get 238s? damn...i got a 225 and wow i'm just glad i don't live in maryland i hear their cut off is 223? my school had 26

At least in MA, no one knows if we are SF until next September...

I got a 223. I got like 4 hours of sleep the night before because I went to my friend's party. I got an 80 on the writing, a 73 on the verbal and a 70 on the math. I filled out 5 bubbles incorrectly in the verbal. I can't do math, admittedly. But I honestly don't care about NMS. I honestly would feel guilty about receiving any scholarship money.

The cut off is usually 223, by the way, guys.

On a side note, the NASC thing is just downright racist and it should be outlawed.

i got a 220 (not so hot on critical reading) but 77 math 78 writing
i'm in nj. last year's cut off for semi finalist was 221, so i'm praying they lowered it a point

Anyone know the cutoff for NY?

or for texas?

I've cut-and-pasted this from elsewhere on the CC boards. I am not the original author, so I can't verify the accuracy of these stats. Note that these are PREVIOUS year cutoff scores, NOT the scores for current juniors who just got the NM commended and above notification. I have read that the national cutoff for commended this year is 203. Semi vs. commended status will not be known until September.
