Would it look bad if I retook a third time and didn't improve?

Wow. Blow me. my score dropped 80 points. every section dropped so it was just pointless for me to take it the second time.

My first time taking it. I didn't study at all, but I'm getting a private tutor before taking it for the second (and last) time in July. My goal is to break 2100.

A little disappointed in my math score, I expected a 750+.
My english scores are OK, I'm not a native speaker so I didn't expect higher results. With those scores, I won't have to take the TOEFL, which is great.
I'm gonna retake the SATs in June or later, after a bit of prep this time.

It is not easy to get 800

not you again

800 CR, 800 M, 800 W (12 essay, 76/80 MC (two wrong, I think)).

First -- and last -- time taking it.

Just for reference, the examples in my essay (prompt was "is uniqueness helpful?") were the lives and works of Albert Einstein and Ernest Hemingway. I first described how Einstein was unique in both a social and scientific context; how his profound imagination allowed him to perceive physical phenomenon that other scientists were slow to discover. I also talked about how the cosmological constant that Einstein introduced to his theory of relativity, a constant which even Einstein himself dismissed, is being reconsidered by modern physicists. All this took up two paragraphs. My Hemingway example was short (1 small paragraph) but cut to the point. I argued that his succinct and elegant style (as evidenced in A Farewell to Arms) was revolutionary and earned him the Nobel Prize in Literature. I concluded my essay with a paraphrasing from Einstein's quote that imagination is far more important than intelligence -- that it takes bold and out-of-the-box thinking to make discoveries and change the world.

But yeah. I'm really happy. Done with SAT and ACT for LIFE!

aloha from hawaii! checked my scores last night, and felt a little happy but know that i need improvement.

what's your advice? really want to do better, don't want parents to have to pay for my education in college. thanks.

I'm retaking, 2090 :/

dang lobgent, nice score... i wish i had your essay score...

"and felt a little happy" - You should be happy. Just because your score is below the College Confidential average does not mean it isn't a good score. The national average in 2006 was 1518, or around there, so anything above that is above average.

2360

CR- 800

first and last time! this feels good :)

CR - 750

Writing -750 (essay: 9)
Total - 2190

I improved on every section since the PSAT, but I'm still not happy about the discrepancy between my math and CR/Writing scores. My low score on the essay surprised me, but the MC was 76, so it didn't drag it down too much.

Definitely taking it again, but considering I didn't study, I'm reasonably satisfied. Anyone have prep advice?
