I hate it when ppl say "goodby Harvard."
SAT is just a small factor in Harvard's admission... GO FOR IT!

Exactly smalllab, and I have more evidence for not freaking out about the SAT (I seriously think that people on this site have very high SAT scores).
Many of you probably have heard of "FamilyConnection". Well, I was just perusing some of the graphs and saw that the ED decisions for many of my classmates were on there.
My boyfriend applied ED to WashU and I didn't really know his statistics because we don't really talk about that stuff. I wasn't trying to figure out his stats, but he was literally the only ED circle on the scattergram. So, it was kind of inevitable to find out that it was him.
Okay, so here's where the confidence for me (and hopefully people of this site!) comes in!
He was a National Merit Semifinalist (maybe even the next level as well) so I just assumed that his SAT scores were very high. Thus, I was very surprised to see that his score was 2100 exactly!
HE GOT IN! And he didn't exactly have a stellar GPA either, about a 3.5.
So, this is just another reason to go for it no matter what.
With schools such as WU, I think that showing interest is key as I think he has toured campus and attended a soccer camp this past summer. So, again, just don't freak out about SATs, standardized testing in general. Thankfully, they care much more about you as a person.

With this revelation, I couldn't help but look at other ED colleges of my friends (the ones who got in of course) and, similarly, their SATs weren't astronomically high either.
One of my friends got into Tufts with a 3.45 GPA and an 1850 SAT.

Overall, I hope this story inspires all of you to apply even if you think it is a huge reach. It surely has given me a lot of confidence and maybe my bf and can attend the same college next year!

FYI, my stats are:
2290 SAT I
3.85 GPA
Native American (enrolled in Chippewa, Lac du Flambeau)

Oh, and not trying to brag, but I got a 12 on the essay! lol, I got a 12 last time and was SURPRISED, but this is even more unbelievable. Two 12s in a row, do colleges even care about the essay?

@ lolcats4...I am in utter shock that you didn't ace CR.

How can you guys see your essay score already? Im looking for mine but it says it will be posted jan 5

first time i took it, and the last time, i'm never taking it again, i know SAT score is not the only factor, but would this make me competitive enough for Ivy's? and will my math score hurt me if i want to go into bio/premed?

Just go to where it lists your scores, and under the Writing section it will break it down into multiple choice and essay.

a 2360 competitive?! yeah right..... you're only in the 99+ percentile...such a bad score. retake it ASAP

Lol, thanks stephenn, you took the words right out of my mouth! A 2360 will not be competitive at a community college, you're joking about the ivies right?

Ay, I hate people like that.......get a life please!

Why settle for a 2360 when you can retake for a 2400. You fail .

dudez not as bad s one of my moms friends daughter...she got grounded after getting 231 on psat because she missed a "medium" math question...

and then she told my mom why she wanst disappointed that her son got a 213...see parents influence.owned

2360 is a truly abysmal score. I believe the median SAT score at Harvard is a 2500. Anything below a 2300 is grounds for outright denial. Let us hope that your extracurricular activities are truly impressive and exemplify passion to the highest degree. It is an almost impossible reach though, even with TASP, RSI, USAMO, and last and definitely least, the Nobel prize.

Jokes aside, the score is more than competitive. From 2200-2400, you are looking at the number of questions missed in the single digits. You show an evenly spread academic prowess across the board so you should be quite proud. Of course, I personally don't believe the SAT takes utmost precedence in a college app.

i never said i was unhappy with my score, and i am more than satisfied with it. i would have been happy with a score of above 2250 (it wasn't as if i spend all of my time prepping for this test). Nor do i plan on taking the SAT ever again. i don't know what else to say, i didn't meant to seem as i was desperate for a 2400 and i'm aware the SAT score in no way the sole deciding factor in college admission.

Talk about beating a dead horse...

Dude, that's more than enough. Your math score won't hurt you at all. That's -1, -2 at the most.

innocencex, you want my 2270? I got two of em.
I'll take your 2360 if you don't mind :D

I honestly think applicants put too much weight on SATs! Relax, once you are pleased with your score, don't take it again!

what are you talking about? No one is pleased until they have gotten a 2400 :D

F the Ivies anyway! Stanford '13 baby! :). !
