^^ So you go there? How's it for other majors? It sort of dropped off my radar once I moved away from arch. I really need to start applying to alot more art schools.
I've only applied at U of I and SIU Carbondale, both of which aren't very good for art. And I'm working on the RISD hometest. Any suggestions?

To everyone: I recently just uploaded this piece and I believe it may be the focal point of my work. I'd really enjoy it if anyone would tell me what they think.

I looked at your stuff again before I saw your note above, and wondered why I hadn't commented on it the first time I looked. Now I know why - it wasn't there before! I like it very much - more than the dress not as much as the spiral staircase. Definitely should be part of portfolio imo.

Nice stuff...

I'd like to see more. Mangosteen is my fave.

thank you, MattsMomFL. =)

I will be uploading more of my portfolio soon.

jazztonish, your work looks very weird, like a mix between painting and digital work.
i think more works like it would definently catch eyes.
what is graphire 4? i see you use it on alot of things.

i really like your still life.
the use of white with graphit is a ncie touch.
id really like to see more of them.

Thanks, brianm02. =)

Graphire 4 is a graphics tablet provided by Wacom company.
Amazon.com: Wacom Graphire4 4x5 USB Tablet

Wacom

Graphire 4 or other graphics tablets can be used with Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter to create digital painting.
(Somebody uses it to fix photograph like fixing fashion model's facial skintone or removing pimples)

The pen itself acts as the brush in Photoshop or Painter, so, you can draw or paint objects easily and quickly.
It is more likely better than using regular mouse to paint.

You should try because it is very convenient to use! :D

poncem- i love your still lives, my one suggestion would be to do something with the negative space, rather than just having the objects floating

i thought they looked sort of empty as well (the still lives). I will try to do one on a black background and then I'll post it with some of my other work too :)

Im a VC student at the University of Delaware. Here is my DA account: korr84 on deviantART

If anyone here is thinking about the VC program at UD, please let me know Id love to answer any questions you have, as I think the program here is great.

Finally sent in my apps to Washington University in St. Louis, Pratt, U of I Urbana, U of I Chicago, and Cooper Union :O

kiyuster, your portfolio is gorgeous! I am super super jealous.

Someone told me to watermark all my work before I posted it online anywhere, so unfortunately you're going to have to read around my obnoxious watermark. (I sent non-watermarked images to schools).

Critiques would be GREATLY appreciated, although I don't know how much good they'll do at this point since I've already submitted things.

By the way, I'm applying to architecture programs, not visual arts. Forgot to mention that. :/ But I wanted in on this nice discussion, so what the heck.

^^ Really nice pieces!!
Chanel and the still life orange are my deffinent favorites.
I wish you had some 3D work!
But it seems you've already got a good grip on oil painting. What are you majoring in? I also applied at UIUC. More for the campus and friends rather than the program.

I am applying for RISD

I was just browsing this forum, and these cool portfolios, so I think, "hey, I should put my stuff up here too". I dont have much art, b/c Im not a very proficient artist. I just do what I do, spraypaints, doodles, etc. This is stuff from studio art. The reason I say this is so you guys dont expect a portfolio or something.

I am applying to UCSD, UCLA, UC Berkley, UW, amongst others for electric or aerospace/aeronautical engineering. No art schools :( Didnt include a supplement or anything.

Anuka, I really like your Cubism painting, its freaking sick.

I uploaded some more works... I know they aren't great, but it's the first time I do portraits and figure drawings :P

It's for Pratt and SVA. there are a on my flickr that are not part of the portfolio (like the photographs of MoMA) but most of them are. and i have about 5 more pieces that i haven't uploaded yet. I just really want your opinion. Thanks!!!!

your illustrations are wonderful!
