i'm seriously wondering how (and WHY) some of you people take 20+ credits. Are you really that far behind? From my stance, it's pointless to take so many credits since they won't transfer more than 60 in most cases anyways. Care to explain?

It's ok...they'll be crying later when their GPA gets owned :D

lol I get the feeling. Really though, I was behind because I didn't take enough classes in my first semester, so I took a normal amount of classes during the summer. Cramming as many classes as some of you are doing into one semester will have dire consequences unless you are:

1) a genius
2) lacking a social life

If you must, good luck to you. But if you end up getting all A's, please let me know and let me know which college you go to so I can transfer there and get an easy 4.0. :D

20+ credits is insane...i took 14 first semester, so im taking 17 next semester to even it out (although i took only 14 because i tested out of english for both semesters)

I've been taking 17, 19, 16, and 17 again this spring at CU Boulder. (The norm is 12-15.) But I take it this thread is for CC students only?

damn, I thought I was taking heavy loads taking 5 classes a quarter. I took 21 transferrable quarter units fall quarter and am taking 23 transferrable quarter units, but I guess thats nothing compared to what some of you are doing. Something doesn't seem to add up to me though, since semester units are 2/3 of quarter units, making my 23 units equivalent to about 15 semester units, which most people seem to achieve with 4 classes.

are you proud of overloading yourself, i wanatransfer?

hell no i regret it. studying for finals is a B_ _ _ _.
see my mentality was if im doing good in high school WHILE going to cc then i can double up when i went to the university. I went to the university and now im suffering my gpa will be between 3.5-3.6 :( ima go hang myself.. on a chair (i've heard it before, but i dunno how it works)

I've found that max units is possible with alot of planning/preparation.

During summer intersession, I petitioned to go two units over the maximum units possible and I did certain things to make sure my courses went smoothly:
1. attained all syllabus'/hwk sheets beforehand
2. did enough hwk to be 2-3 weeks ahead
3. no math, no high level sciences, i filled up the whole semester with all GE's and a single unit pass/fail (low div. english, low div. sociology, low div. CIS)

By filling up my sched. with GE's and 1 pass fail class, the courses aren't difficult, rather they are tedious. I'm bound to fall somewhat behind because there's just not enough time in the week, so when I begin to fall behind, I have a "padding" since I worked a couple weeks ahead.

Oh yeah, no social life too :D

I only maxed out my intersessions because fatigue becomes a big problem (I fall behind way past my padding) over the long 16 week semester.

I'm taking 7 classes, 22 units for Spring because my school is so cheap they took out a class that I needed to take in the Winter.

u couldn't tak any of those 22 units during winter? wowww..bummer man

If you self study before the class starts it takes a lot of the burden off.

it takes a lot of self-discipline to study ur butt off before the course begins lol self-discipline that i'm going to have to discover if i'm going to be taking 19

yeah I have no life so I'm able to spend literally almost all my time studying.
