The Human Experience: Who Am I?----A

This has been my best semester yet i must say because my previous 3 semesters expecially in the fall my GPA has dropped. Matter Fact, after the fall (My worst semester yet) my GPA was a 2.0 which wasnt very good.

History 4770: A+
POLS 4710: A+
POLS 3200 (can’t remember the number and don’t feel like looking it up): A+

History 3600 (again, don’t feel like looking it up): A+

Wait, east89, are you a high school student? If not, what school do you go to? I’ve never heard of a college that has weighted grades (in regards to your “4.3” GPA).

Then what’s the point of even having an A+?

I’m pretty sure there’s other colleges out there that do that, as well. LSAC even accounts for A+s as a 4.3 when students send in their transcripts for law school admissions. I believe Columbia uses the system, but I’m not certain on that one. The term weighted usually applies to honors classes, which is not the case in this instance; it’s just the fact that an A+=4.3, while an A is equivalent to a 4.0. This differs from HS since I’ve never known one to use an A+ grading system, and the only way one can go above a 4.0 is with honors and AP.

The only reason for the Cs in histories was my essays… apperently i can’t write to save my life… SO i’m takeing an english course next semester to remady this problem…

Can I ask something? I’m not familiar with the US grading system. If you miss an A somewhere, does that mean your cumulative GPA can’t reach 4.0 anymore?

I won’t post my classes and grades. Just my GPA:

Spring Semester: 2.9
Cumulative: 3.25 (it dropped from a 3.3, which makes a difference to me)

I had a terrible and I mean horrible semester. What made me even more angry was that I worked so hard in the fall and ended up with a semester GPA of 3.75. Then to go to a 2.9 in the spring — that just suuuuucked.

I shouldn’t have taken 3 linguistics courses. I really thought I would love this major, but I hate it. It’s too philosophical and scientific for my liking. I’m going back to English/Literature :(

I figure I can still graduate with a 3.5 or 3.6 at the end of my undergrad years if I work as hard as I did in the fall.
