w t f mate. dont make excuses

Both the CFA pushups and situps are over a 2 min time period.

bzzzt, if you don't mind me asking where are you now in your class? Where are you headed now that your graduating? Also, it would be interesting to know whether you validated anything and what you validated (notably US Hist with a 4). Is there any list of class rankings and where everyone is headed (ie how many are going infantry, ft bragg, korea or alaska, you know statistics on the class of '06) Thanks.

Hawks58, you did misunderstand. I was saying that though my school doesn't have much money, and the neighborhood is middle class, the cross country team and other sports teams are amazingly good.

So I was saying even though the school doesn't have money and the academics are mediocre, they still put a lot of time and money into sports.

Most of what I did in Cross Country I did on my own time, so you really don't NEED to join the team to get the training. If sports are too competitive at your school (as in you get cut no matter how hard you work), try some leagues, or better yet (this should get you some brownie points, maybe) start up some sport that your school doesn't have like lacrosse. I am sure theres something you can do if you put your mind to it. As far as academics, take the most difficult classes and get the best grades possible. West Point isn't going to punish you because you went to a school with "mediocre" academics, as long as you show you did the best with what you had. Show motivation and dedication, and never give up! (It would be nice to ace the SATs as well)

Well, I make the top 50 percent of my class look good, but I have a life, I have friends, and I'm happy with my choices. I could have done better with my academics, but college isn't all about the classes, it's also about what you do with your time, and how you grow as a person. I'm heavily involved in the yearbook and in my choir. I did not validate anything, I ended up in advanced world history instead of American history. I don't have any statistics for my class over all, but I'll look around.

4.2 GPA, eight IB tests, 33 ACT, 600R 650M 680W SAT, 7 of class of 285, top 5%, NHS member, JROTC 4 years, corps commander one year, gymnastics team freshman year, Math club, 1 yr Karate, 110 hrs community service, 3 academics letters, national merit scholar, special recognition from the gymnastics team. CFA BB throw: 40 ftish, 7 pullups, shuttle run 9.7 sec, 50 pushups, 95 situps, 9 min mile (yes i'm sure i'm the worst runner in all of WP lol) There's prolly more stuff but i dont' remember, it's 6 am lol.

My academics and ACT score are what got me in, not physical ability. Keep in mind they much prefer that you are in a couple groups and have high position in them rather than being just a member of a whole bunch of groups. As you can see other than my freshman year i didn't have any sports on my record, so you CAN get in without them...however if you don't have them you better do really good on your academics and have other groups in which you show a lot of leadership.

I think your upper body and core strength more than compensated for the run time, BlackFire. 9 min is much better than what most would be capable of, anyway. Nice test scores, too :)

GPA: 95 UW (toughest course load)
SATs: 1460 (800V 660M)

Got nominations from JROTC, my congresswoman and my senator

CFA: PU: 90; Situps: 75; Mile 7:30; BBall Throw: 80ft; Pullups 11

Initially got put on waitlist because I was redflagged by DODMERB (football injury). I got it cleared, but it looks like I'm headed to NMMI for a year. See you guys next fall.

Well, your GPA is higher than mine, I'll come out the same for SAT most likely, maybe higher. That's a crazy number of pushups but I once could do a hundred for karate class, don't know if I still can. Sit ups I figure I can handle that. We have the same mile, and it's slow! At least compared to service academy/track team standards. I can do six or seven pullups and probably can't throw a basketball 80ft.

I'm not very big but I'm really loaded with adrenaline.

GPA: 4.001 Weighted (toughest courses)
SAT: 1110 - 600M 510V

Presidential and Congressional Nominations

CFA: BB Throw: 57ft; PU: 55; Situps: 91; Pullups: 13; Mile: 6:30

heh.. I'm just like godfather, too.. not very big, but loaded up :D

Got waitlisted, and I have Army ROTC at University of Central Florida as a backup

GPA: 3.8 unweighted (11 APs, 2 Honors grrrr I want weighted grades!)

3 Congressional nominations, but one senator took his back when I got my appointment so he could give it to someone who needed it

CFA 1 (at NASS): BB= 33? Pullups=3 shuttle=no idea situps=82 pushups=45 mile= 9:54 (hehe sucky)

CFA 2: BB=34 Pullups=2 shuttle=no idea situps=85 pushups=50 mile=8:20

I'm also a girl...supposedly they were trying to increase female populations at academies this year, so it's great to be double X!

Turned down my West Point appointment in favor of Navy!! WOOHOO!!

Navy, eh? What event did you run in track? (Don't wanna be a jerk but it wasn't the mile was it?)

Lol. Your upperbody makes up for it though.

lol no offense taken i know my mile time sucks...I jump triple and long, so uhhh yea definitely not a long distance specialist.

My mile used to be pretty good sophomore year. Thing is, once I started bulking up for football, I lost most of my stamina - hence my crappy run score. Anyways, weightlifting really helped bring up everything else though.

Cesare...I'm so sorry. As a former NMMI prep, I'll always be glad to help you with anything. I highly suggest investing in a TV card. hooah
