I got the email today too, even though I didn't apply for fin aid.

Something of interest that I found while doing some research though:
The number of applicants for financial aid is unknown, said Don Betterton, director of undergraduate financial aid, because the University does not track aid applications until students are admitted. When asked about any effect of the Common Application on aid applicants, he noted that it was not introduced with the specific intention of recruiting more students from lower socioeconomic groups. Application numbers hit all-time high with Class of 2009 - The Daily Princetonian
Not Cornell, but I imagine the ivies have similar policies.

@ blahhh90....maybe you're just really organized and had all of your forms in on time so there wasn't a reason for you to get a letter or email....

blahhh90: it was clearly all Cornell's fault, don't worry about it. They clicked a wrong button in their email client and instead of notifying a few who didn't send in their forms despite their application for FinAid, they notified everybody.

This is what Cornell just told me in an email:
[quote]
Dear Prospective Cornellian:

Please disregard the previous email from our office. It was sent to international students in error.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Sincerely,

"Please disregard the previous email from our office. It was sent to international students in error." That's what I just got. They made a mistake.

what trauma/shock, the error was in reference to the international emails only, if im mistaken correct me, we still havent determined the relevance or implications of the letters to domestic applicants, which not everyone received

i had unrequested financial aid about a month ago so am not responding to this but i highly doubt this indicates acceptance b/c cornell JUSt received my completed application last week (they lost half of it)

i just found out that a friend of a friend got this e-mail too and he has miserable stats. well, good gpa but poor sat's and ec's and the rest! when i say poor i'm talking cornell poor........not poor in general.

My letter had a Cornell ID number on it. Wonder if that means anything? I didn't get an ID number for Penn State until after I have been accepted.
