I saw the Cornell ID and thought that too. It doesnt mean anything though, everyone gets a Cornell ID as soon as they apply.

I wonder why they send them to people who didn't apply for financial aid. It seems really inane.

^^ a mistake. An error. To quote The Simpsons: "Let it die..."

guys, i called this afternoon and was told they sent out 16,000 so it would mean that this is not an indication of admission status.

oh and sorry, i asked why they sent it to us since we did not ask for fa, and they apparently sent it to everyone that either is missing something or did not file in case you want to file because they extended the date.

Guys, just look at my post above (2 posts above), they sent out a new e-mail, apologizing and saying it was a mistake!

I didn't apply for financial aid, nor did I get any sort of contact from them about it....

your post said to disregard email because it was sent to internationals. some of the us citizens wanted to know if it meant something for them and after my call it is obvious that for some, it was not a mistake. it was letting applicants know that you could still file for fa if you want to. fyi, your files are with the schools that you pplied to so the fa office is not necessarily where your info is. but she clearly said they sent out 16,000 because i said happy reading and she laughed. you don't send out that many to applicants if it means anything other than giving out info.

that fa e-mail was mistakenly sent to all int'l students!

no this was originally about the letters via snail mail that came to us citizens about our finaid files, which were accurate not mistakes. we were curious about a possible correlation between these LETTERS(not emails) to CITIZENS and possible admittance. then it got side tracked by international email thing which was a mistake... the finaid LETTER correlation is possible and a thread should be made after decisions to prove or debunk it

What is the actually contents of the letter?

Haha, great, I read through 8 pages of this thread to find out that all internationals got this email. Thanks Cornell.

I'm not an international. I got it as well, and I live in New Jersey. For me, the email is legit because I just sent in my parents' 2006 and 2007 tax returns yesterday. They hadn't received it at the time of writing.

The letter is what we think is the sign of acceptance. My guidance counselor called for me today, and they gave her convoluted and flat-out rude answers. They didn't say no to her question of whether or not this LETTER (snail mail) correlated with acceptance, so I take that positively.

lol at first i got an email asking me to submit FA forms...then later the same day, i got THIS :

Dear Prospective Cornellian:

Please disregard the previous email from our office. It was sent to international students in error. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Sincerely,

The Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment

i got the first email but not the second. does that mean they dun have my stuff? but i'm an early deferral, they should have everything. somebody help!!!

johnnyhoward3, what is the contents of the letter?

Letter says absolutely nothing.

Let me make that clear..

** THERE IS NO CORRELATION!!!!!**

If you're still curious, it says:
