Postcard/Likely letter

Thank you so much @arlmom2 ! It feels nice to be wanted by the college. I wasn’t really considering WM because of the costs, but the likely post card has added more interest.

I was losing hope of ever getting a postcard. But it caught me by surprise today in the mail!

@ninadasiy It’s a terrific school; D1 loves it there, as does virtually everyone I’ve met who is a current student or has gone there in the past.

But it’s also important to make sure it’s a good fit financially. Graduating from college with a lot of debt can limit your options for after college, for example.

Congrats @belizeme !

For those who are still waiting – a close friend of D2’s received her postcard today. It was postmarked March 4th. That’s beyond when they usually send postcards – they say they stop once committee begins, because that means they’re going to be issuing the actual decisions soon.

I got the impression that they send postcards for the “easy” admission decisions, and then the ones that remain they discuss in committee. I believe committee started final week of February. I suppose it’s possible they gathered a last bunch of postcards but just didn’t take them to the Post Office until last week?

I got my admission packet today!

@ninadasiy‌ you got your entire packet?!

@bsalum Yea I did! Along with a scholarship notification. I live in Virginia, so that’s probably why I got it so soon.

@bsalum W&M usually sends the notifications for Monroes (and apparently for W&M Scholars as well, though I didn’t know that) a couple of weeks before they send out the regular decision notifications. Last year, for example, Monroe Scholars started receiving their materials on about March 10th, but the regular decision notifications didn’t go out until about the 26th.

Does anyone know if they send postcards/likely letters to international students?

No, they do not send them to international students.
