I'm trying to figure out what I should make sure my son sees when he comes for a visit. We will most likely do a Make It Miami day, but are there other things we should make sure we see or do while there. Thanks

They do a great job showing you everything you need to see on campus. Plan to spend some time walking the Uptown area that is just off campus. It is as much a part of campus life at MU as the campus itself. There are only three or four blocks so it won’t take long. Lots of shops, bookstores, restaurants and clubs.

Get a steamed bagel at Bagel&Deli uptown. It’s a tradition and they are soooo good!

Also, forgot to add, walk (or drive) all the way back into Western Campus. Kumler Chapel is back there and it’s beautiful. The campus tours don’t go back there.

Goggin Arena… where the hockey magic happens.
It was not on the Make it Miami tour last year which, due to the number of students and the time constraints, is a bit abbreviated version of the full admissions tour.
Also, I second the drive over to Western campus. Just be aware of the deer… they’re everywhere!

Thanks all. Do they have sessions with specific departments, or should we try to arrange something separate with the business school? We will at least walk through the building in any case.

You might check with Farmer directly - I know engineering offers their own tours/info sessions. We didn’t see Farmer on our “regular” tour and one of the families was not happy about that.

There are beautiful gardens on North Campus. They are not visited often, but definitely worth the time.

Wow…hard to imagine a tour that does not include the new Farmer building! Talk about a showcase…that should be a must-see destination. BTW…I second the recommendation for Bagel & Deli…now I’m hungry!

We saw the outside. Just didn’t go in. This was around October of last year. The new student center was getting finished up, I guess it has opened?

We did spend a really long time inside the ice arena.

D and I ate at La Bodega deli and agreed it was delicious, inexpensive and pretty fast. It was a beautiful day when we were there, we sat outside.

If you can arrange your drive in to town so that you approach campus on Ohio route 73 from the east, I’d recommend that. The view as you drive through those rolling hills and suddenly see Miami appear amid the trees still gives me chills.
