Potential IGETC Transfer Issue

Hello everyone; I’m new to this forum, and am wondering if anyone has any information regarding my current situation.

I was accepted as a transfer student to UC Berkeley, on the grounds that I would have my IGETC completed prior to the Summer 2018 term. My situation is somewhat unique in that I spent a semester at CSU Long Beach during the Fall 2017 semester, and am using credits earned there towards my IGETC. I was told months ago by a councilor at my community college that an International Studies course I took at CSULB would fulfill my Critical Thinking IGETC requirement at Chabot because Long Beach counts it towards their critical thinking requirement, but I’ve been given wrong information from councilors here before, and am worried there will be a problem getting my IGETC certified, and thus potentially a problem regarding my admission to Berkeley. I would just sign up to take another course over the summer to be sure, but Berkeley requires a complete IGETC certification to be submitted before the Summer 2018 term. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome Drummer. Two questions: what is your major and what is the actual course name? Very few courses outside of a CCC fulfill the comp/critical thinking req. However, some CSU courses do. What did your UC application say? Did it note the course as fulfilling that area? Go check.

Next: if your major is in Berkeley’s College of Letters and Science then you must have full IGETC by spring or you may get rescinded. it’s a requirement in that college.
