So, as per my major, I need to do a 140 hour internship to gain my bachelor’s. I’m currently in my final semester on-campus now but never filled out the required paperwork to do an internship at least for the spring because I didn’t have anything set in stone and had planned on doing my internship in the summer. Recently, I got in touch with a company in the area who are looking for interns on a project they are doing this winter. They seem really interested in having me on board - but the problem still stands that I’ve never been approved by the university to take an internship for credit. I’m trying to figure out my options, I have to e-mail my adviser anyway tomorrow about other things and bring it up but I’m trying to think of what to do. I would think there’s the chance I could do the internship hours now then during the summer do all the paperwork components (journal, final project, etc.), but that doesn’t sound at all ethical and almost seems like lying. I’m sort of at a loss, anyone have advice?
You have to ask your advisor. It really matters what the rules for your school are. There’s nothing else that can be done about it. You may be able to submit the paperwork late, but no one here is going to be able to tell you whether you can or not.
I wouldn’t recommend trying to fake it and submit the paperwork during the summer because it is lying and it is unethical.
Regardless of if you are able to get credit for it or not, I would recommend you still do the internship if you can though. Internships are always a good thing to have if you have the time to swing it.
