I haven't actually been to orientation yet (am going this week) but was just online looking at classes and wanted to get some feedback on the schedule I'm considering. My major is International Relations and I'm in Liberal Arts Honors.

UGS 303 - Sustaining a Planet (I'm flexible on this, it's just there's an honors section for this one. there are SO MANY that sound interesting though.)
ECO 304K - Microeconomics
LAH 102H - The Idea of Liberal Arts
GOV 310L - American Government
IRG 301 - Introduction to International Relations (okay, so that's probably not the actual name of the course because I'm too lazy to go back and check, but in any case, it's required of all IRGS majors)

Lastly, I'm considering taking PIA 201... private piano lessons. But I'm not sure about that one... I don't wanna waste my time, but I also don't want to forget how to play (been playing since I was 5, but I don't want to major in music). If I don't, I'll probably try to take GRG 305 which is "This Human World: Intro to Geography." So... in all, 15 or 16 hours.

This is VERY hypothetical and it'll probably end up completely different come Friday when I actually register... it's just that I want to have more than a few minutes to make my decisions, you know? All I know for certain is that this huge scholarship I got is requiring me to take at least 15 hours, so the number of classes is pretty much staying, I think.

IRG 301 is closed last time I checked (you should verify that) but keep in mind that it could easily open up again. Also, make sure you have the required number of college credit hours to be able to register for American Government. Other than that, it looks great!

etceterae, i didn’t either until just recently! The class is called PIA 201, and you have to audition to get in, but the audition is only 5 minutes and looks really easy. That might not work out for me though, because the signup period for the audition is like a week before i’ll be getting onto campus =/

tim739: you’re right, it is closed. but i’m just hoping that some spots will open up when i go to register on Friday. and I have more than 30 college credit hours so getting into American gov’t shouldn’t be a problem.

Oh wow. If I find the time I’ll try to audition…5 minutes, I’m assuming they’re seeing if you actually know how to play or if you tinker around XD

yeah, it says online that you just have to play one scale of your choosing hands separately, play one memorized piece, and then sight-read something simple. that’s easier than stuff i was doing when i first started playing!
