Potentially Good News For Stanford Transfers

Stanford admitted a small number of students. If 70 percent matriculate (last year's percentage), that will come out to 1680 freshmen, 65 less than last year. The rate may be even lower, however, given that Harvard and Princeton are only accepting students regular decision.

fingers crossed for mid-May

Sweeeeeeeeettttttttt

did they release the info on how many transfers applied?

Unclear, could you check?

I noted that data as well, and it sounds like good news. One potential confound to note is that Stanford may be planning on a similar conversion rate as last year and planning on tapping the wait list...but my guess is that this is good news for us.

If anybody knows how many undergrad degrees Stanford is planning on awarding this year, that would give a little more info.

Edit: Reading the article, it sounds like they consider last year's class size and error and are navigating against a repeat. Sounds good for us.

Actually, I fear that it makes no difference how big the incoming frosh class size is. Current freshmen like me that are trying to transfer into the sophomore class of next year will have a hard time transferring because the current Stanford freshman class size is so enormous. I think the low acceptance rate this year will be good for NEXT year's transfers, not this year's.

ivy-transfer, why are you worried since you got the perfect stats, you cured AIDs in africa, you competed in the olympics, you saved humanity from almost being destroyed. I mean, why would they NOT accept you?

I don't know what I've done to elicit such dislike from posters. I just inquired about chances and I think I have a reasonable chance at acceptance. I asked for CHANCES; I didn't say I was a lock.

Donjuan, I relish remarks like yours. Come May, I'm going to post where I am going, and I'm going to laugh in the face of the haters on this board.

That's interesting. How would you gauge the chance for junior transfers may I ask?

you did say that you had perfect stats and you did insinuate that you have very good chances of being accepted, which came off as arrogant to a lot of us here.

and i will definitely be here to see where you get in. I am definitely not going to hate; in fact, i will be happy to see that you proved everyone wrong.

where did I say I had the "perfect stats?" Find that for me. I have maintained, and still maintain, that my stats are not phenomenal. "Very good chances?" Where does this come from? I said I was a BUBBLE APPLICANT. Meaning it could go either way.

Let's be real here. I have the numbers to be considered. That's what I said. Seriously. Calm down with all the hate. And I will enjoy proving you wrong. You should stop being so cynical and sardonic (to everyone, not just me). It helps in life.

@ undisclosed; I have no idea about anything lol. My opinion is probably wrong; it's just what I think. I think the junior transfer game is a bit different than the sophomore one. I think you have to have a specific major in mind, etc. But I think they may take more juniors than sophs. because like I said, the current freshman Stanford class is so enormous.

wth? you must have serious reading comprehension problems considering i just said

Thank you! And good luck to you too! :)

Excuse me, I thought it was sarcasm. Thanks though.

Just to put everything to rest, I have never intended for any of my posts to be arrogant. I am fully aware of the difficulty and unpredictability of transferring into an Ivy League caliber school. I am only hoping for the best, not predicting that I will be admitted.

Additionally, I propose we only harass ivy-transfer on threads in which he actually makes the claim to be god's gift to adcoms, and leave uncluttered those threads of general community interest in which he does not make said claim.

I suggest you guys don't look too much into this.

If by some miracle (read: not a miracle!) their yield is higher this year, or if they take a lot of waitlisted students ->less transfer spots.

Anyways, what KGZ said certainly sound possible, so here's hoping he's right.

Good luck!

KGZotU, where do I make said claims?

Huh, I never thought about the bulging Class of 2011. I guess I'm lucky I'm trying to transfer as a junior.
