Prarie State....asap Input Neede From Illinois Takers

so I already took the act...dont want to take it again for fear of getting a lower score....illinois requires that i take the act with the prarie state exam or else theyll withold my diploma...is their anyway I can take it and just not have it scored like with the normal ACT's?

Yeah, you have to take the ACT that's included with the PSAE. There's no way out of it unless you're not a public school junior.

I'm also from Illinois and I say just take it and hope you score 1-2 points higher (unless you got a 36...). ACTs are completely independent of each other meaning if you got a lower score on the PSAE one, it won't impact your current score whatsoever.

does this years PSAE include a writing section?

Yes it does.

your PSAE score will appear on your transcript, so just do your best. Since the ACT that is given on that day is factored into your overall PSAE score, you cannot skip it.

DankStarbursts- the PSAE writing score comes from the ACT combined English/Writing

I think it shows up on my transcript..

but then if I don't get a good score on it, would it hurt my chances when I apply to colleges?

when I was registering for PSAE, there was a section that asked me if I want to send my ACT score to the colleges.. and I decided to not to send it..
why do they even ask it if they are going to put it on my transcript.. colleges will see my score anyway..

i don't believe the psae shows up on your transcript
your act score will
well it depends on what school you go to i guess
the psae is really to help illinois figure out if a school is meeting a certain educational level (no child left behind)
psae is also REALLY EASY! don't even fret over it
take some psae practice tests
they're basic math problems like...sally gave u $20.00 and her pair of pants cost $10.19...how much change should she receive?

^nope.

The PSAE appears on your transcript, but only as either "exceeds, meets, does not meet" standards. And it carries no weight in college admissions.

So no, the ACT score you get that day does not appear on your transcript, and even if it did it wouldn't hurt your chances.

^nope
the psae score does NOT appear on transcripts at my school!
the ACT appears on transcripts b/c colleges WILL NOT look @ the psae
the psae is for the state of illinois!

What is the PSAE exactly? Is it just an ACT used for No Child Left Behind purposes?

I have to take it in a couple weeks. I'm assuming that it's just as tough as any other ACT?

yeah it's a standardized test for students in illinois
it's work keys & it's really easy
u take the act the first day then on the second day you take the work keys
the status of ur school is determined by this test

I heard that the psae does go on my transcript
BUT!!!
it's not put onto my transcript until a few weeks before graduation
therefore, colleges don't see it.

All it says is "below/meets/exceeds standards" on your transcript. It doesn't have the numerical score you get on it.

well it's tomorrow so good luck everyone!!
