So here’s the sitch:
I got into both Pratt and Parsons, with a $26,000/year scholarship and a $12,000/year scholarship, respectively. I want to study animation, and Pratt seems to have a very good animation program. Parsons, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to have a major specifically for animation (I think, I’m not totally sure.) They have Design and Technology and Illustration, both of which seem to incorporate some animation into their programs, and they also have some animation electives, but, again, no specific animation major.
So, it seems like Pratt is the obvious answer, since they have the animation program, plus they offered a much higher scholarship. However, I really like Parsons; the location, the vibe, the atmosphere, everything just really appeals to me. They also have an open campus, which I prefer over Pratt’s more traditional campus.
So, what do you all think? Am I overthinking this? Should I listen to my head or my heart?? (cheesy, sorry)
Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you!
@aquawoman I personally think that it is really important to feel the vibes that a place gives you. If you personally feel much better vibes at Parsons then I would probably choose Parsons! But, on the other hand, it is important to make sure you can afford Parsons and that you think it would be worth the money! Just make sure you love the school you are going to because you’re going to be paying a good bit either way! Good luck!!
Which has better internship opportunities/job placement in your chosen field? Vibe is nice, until you’re having to write a student loan payment as big as your car payment. My opinion? Go with your head, do whatever is best for your career, and if happens to be Pratt, us the savings to treat yourself to a nice experience.
Honestly, if the price is better and it has the specific major you want, you should go to that school. I understand that vibes may be important; however, at the end of the day, you’re going for the education.
Thanks for the advice everyone, Pratt is probably looking like the most likely choice, but I’ll try to visit both schools during spring break and explore and ask questions!
