Praying For Georgetown, beyond that it's anyone's guess

I'm a White Male from New Jersey who has wanted for a long time to go to Georgetown. Since I'm going into Senior year and applying EA, it's a little late in the game to be making drastic changes, and since none of you (I would imagine) are admissions, officials, I suppose this is just to break up the monotony of application prep. Main stretch is certainly grades, though as you'll see I do strengthen my hand in a few other areas. Anywho,

Grades: 3.75 (UW) Mostly A's with a smattering of Bs and a C in freshman hon. Geometry just for fun.

Taken most advanced courses in all except math (you can understand why).
Including Hon. Bio, Hon. Chem, Hon. Phys, AP Bio (this year) Hon-AP English Hon-AP History (US and Euro) Hon Spanish (AP this year) reg math (Ap Stats this year)

Rank: ~28/190 at highly ranked NJ public (1st in state several years ago, always top 10) There are some ridiculous geniuses in my school. Also, not unusual to find people in second decile attending UPenn, UChicago, NWestern, et al.

Tests: PSAT: 233 (CR 80 M 73 W 80) National Merit Commended, Semi may be in works.
SAT: 1460 old (V 780 M 680) 2280 new (CR 800 M 710 W 770)

Special Programs: JHU distance writing courses, JHU summer CTY, Presidential Classroom, GYLC, Georgetown Summer International relations program.

Misc.
Double legacy at Georgetown (If you count my dad's side of the family, it's a bajillion legacy, 3 of 4 of his siblings attended, 13 out of ~20 cousins).
STAND, my personal favorite activity, was founded at Georgetown.
Good essay (my mother would kill me if she wasn't, perfectionist as she is.) Good recommendations.
My transcript proves I've taken the hardest (more or less) I could and shows upward trend.

If you haven't clawed yer frickin eyeballs out in boredom, Gimme chances at:

Georgetown (EA)
UPenn
Johns Hopkins
Bowdoin
Washington & Lee
Holy Cross
UNC- Chapel Hill
Rutgers (safety instate, I will pay approx. $1000 per semester).

I want to major in poly Sci./government

Any comments appreciated.

Good scores + Legacy. I'd say you're safe.

That being said, are you thinking of applying to the Edmund Walsh School of Foreign Service? That might be a bit tougher...But who knows. I think you'll be okay since you have 4 bajillion family members who came before you in the Georgetown legacy.

Good luck :)

You're SAT scores save you, and the legacies put you over the top. You're definitely in. And how can you get a 233 on PSAT's and not be a semi-finalist?

Jen, I don't think they announced semis. I could be wrong but I thought that was in fall, and that they had to look at transcripts. Others are likely more knowledgeable than me. And czech, I'm applying to the College, for poli-sci. My foreign language facility is nil.

I wouldn't get overconfident on Georgetown. That rank could be trouble for you.

However, you have a good chance of being accepted.

nobody's "in" at georgetown. good chances. no guarantees.
