Pre-Bioengineering/ Pre-Medical

What is the best college for the Pre-bio/med major? and also is this a really tough major? Would I have to like study 24/7 round the clock?? Will I be able to even have fun once in a while? Like Parties...

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=317426%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=317426</a></p>

As for the studying, depends on how smart you are.

can someone explain the "pre" part? does that mean we are going to be officially admitted to that major based on our grades in freshman year? what happens if we are NOT admitted to bioE major -- pick another major?

(sorry if this is asked before, but it's all kind of fuzzy to me :( )

Pre-bioengineering major isn't really a major. You dont get admitted to bioengineering:premed if you don't meet the requirements of the GPA for the special classes (chem 6A etc..) . Ultimately, if you can't handle those classes you get denied and forced elsewhere.

For anyone with firsthand experience how stiff is the competition for this major?

You just need above a 3.0 in the screening courses. There isn't a limit to the number of people that will get admited. If you have above a 3.0 in the screening courses, you're in. Simple.

are those screening courses in college or in high school?

They're in college. You transition into the actual major in your third year.

thanks! any pre-bioengineering/pre-meds in erc?

Not the best idea because of all those extraneous course requirements, like history and such for GE. ERC doesn't seem that far away from the engineering school though. Not like Revelle X_X
