<p>I got into Haas with this schedule, and I never really thought any of my semesters were too taxing. Let me know if you have any questions, I'll try to check this thread when I get bored.</p>
<p>Well I took Stats when it was easy and you could get massive amounts of extra credit, so I needed 66% on the test to get an A on the test. I find this hard to answer because I didn’t really learn the material, just tried to get 100% on the homework.</p>
<p>That said, I found the final pretty difficult.</p>
<p>Hey thanks for that, and thanks for bringing Pol Sci 179 to my attention! I was bummed because I don’t think I’ll be able to take two seminars like I wanted (they fill up fast), and that might be the perfect class to replace it! If it’s not too much trouble, could you tell me about how you think that class is? And does anyone know what the theme is this fall? Looks like a great class!</p>
<p>Old system was if you got 100% on a homework, you got an extra 1% towards your final class grade, so if you got all 25 100%, then you’d have 125% on 50% of the class. This meant that you needed 65% on the final to get 95% in the class, so guaranteed A if you passed the final (and got 100’s on most of the homeworks).</p>
<p>Poli Sci 179 was a lot of fun during Fall '08 because it was election year. Spring '09 I didn’t think it was that special. Go to the lectures and pay attention and it’s a guaranteed pass. No assignments or homework, just a final on the last day of class that is 50 questions T/F, and you need to get 60% to pass.</p>

<p>But I’m just curious, do you have any econ/business double major friends who could also share their schedules? That would be much more helpful for me and others :D</p>
<p>I can ask but I doubt they would be too different in the first two years. If I remember correctly, the only addition would be Econ 100a + 100b, so throw that in somewhere, subtract a few unit fillers and you’d probably have a similar schedule. </p>
<p>Another unit filler is the PACS meditation class, I know that takes less work than Poli Sci 179 but you can’t repeat it.</p>
<p>@grapeyduck: I wanted to take UGIS 110 this fall. Any comments on the course material / workload / professor? The class is from 4 pm to 7 pm I think, so I wanted to know beforehand whether it’s worth it. Thanks.</p>
<p>UGIS isn’t that hard of a class. Easy B if you show up, easy A if you put some effort. I didn’t do any reading except the days before the midterms, and the term project is a joke. Good and informative class though, professor is solid.</p>
<p>The 4-7 time slot is a nice way to knock out 3 units just once a week, and you watch a lot of videos anyways.</p>
<p>Hey quick question. I noticed that you took Rhetoric R1A to fulfill the first half of the R&C requirement for Haas. However, on the Haas prerequisite website it says that you should take courses comparable to English R1A to fulfill the prerequisite. </p>
<p>So does that mean that you can take any R1A series (whether it’s in the English or Rhetoric departments) to fulfill that prerequisite for Haas?</p>
<p>i plan on double majoring in business and english (i’m pre-hass and in L&S). i got stuck on a waitlist for a few courses so basically i only have three courses and a seminar, when i would like to have four courses (unless you think that would be too difficult for an entering freshman). here’s my schedule:</p>

English 45AC (american cultures req)

<p>You can take any R1A or R1B (I took German R5B). And @london, if it were me I would mix in a science/math class instead of English 45ac, unless that kills both an english AND an AC requirement. Remember you have to get all your Haas stuff done by the end of sophomore year, so you can save English for later.</p>
<p>Econ has hardly any math, but I found it hard - not necessarily concept wise, but grading and the level of detail you need on exams.</p>
<p>For R1A and R1B take any “studies” class, like Scandinavian, Native American, etc. They are a lot easier than just English or College Writing.</p>

i’m trying to avoid as much science/math as possible, and someone told me not to take Econ1 and UGBA at the same time. but i just noticed that there’s a UGBA 39AC class called “philanthropy” listed in the lower division courses on the haas website, but it’s not in the course catalog for some reason. is it being offered this semester?</p>
<p>This is a fantastic thread. Just a note, you guys no longer need to fulfill all your breadth requirements before your junior year, and you don’t have a lit requirement anymore either. That said, here are the classes I took:</p>

I want to get some of my econ electives done earlier so that I don’t get killed in my junior and senior years by upper division business and econ courses at the same time.</p>

<p>^ Yes, I read somewhere that if you get a 5, 6, or 7 on the IB exam then you don’t have to do Econ 1 or 2. So if you’ve gotten a 5 or above you won’t have to do it. </p>
<p>@Handlebars: I thought freshman can’t take upper division courses like Econ 100A? I was actually thinking of taking it too, during my second semester, but I saw that on the course restrictions website it says that it’s restricted to sophomores and older.</p>
