For my junior year, i need to fill in one more class. I cnt take AP Calc until senior year. Will pre-calc and Stata in the same year be a bad idea or does it really not make a difference? thank you

I know quite a few people who did that. They had no problem with it. Unless math is an incredible struggle for you, you should be OK.

i did it last year, however math is my strongest subject, it depends because if you arent math oriented i would say no

I mean, will colleges see it as a problem?

What would be the problem?

idk, two math classes in the same year? Or should i just stick with ap psych ntead of ap stats?

I did this in 10th grade and was able to get a 5 on the exam and a good grade in my pre-calc class; math is my strong subject, though.

But if I had to pick between Psych or Stats junior year, which would be better?

It really depends on what you think is harder; if math is hard for you then I would take stats this year so you can take Calc and Psych senior year. Personally, I took Pre-calc, Stats and Psych, all in the same year, and I survived that, though I’m pretty good at math and psych was pretty interesting for me, so that helped too.

Hello! ![]()
I took AP Stats and Pre-Calc last year as a junior. I’m currently a senior. Honestly, it can sometimes be hard to keep up with both these classes, but it is definitely manageable. Luckily, since Pre-Calc is not an AP class its a little bit easier test-wise, but stats is much easier to understand (especially 2nd semester) although the tests are killer. Discuss this with your current Advanced Algebra teacher, your parents, and your counselor as well. They will definitely help you make the right choice! :)

It takes a lot of work, but in the end you’ll learn a lot and be really proud of yourself! ![]()
Best of luck to you!!

Most people on the AP track (including myself) in my school took AP Statistics and Pre-Calc in the same year. I think both classes are relatively simple.

Why would colleges not like to see two math classes in one year? It shows initiative and passion for something that many students find difficult. As long as you go on to AP Calc senior year, and as long as you don’t sacrifice any other important junior year class by having 2 maths (like AP English/Chemistry/US History and the like).

wouldn’t you think two math classes gave you an advantage? But to your question: Right now, I’m taking Pre-Calc and Ap Psych (along with APUSH), and it’s not that bad at all (math is my strong subject, and APPSYCH is really interesting). I would suggest AP Psych, and leave AP Stat til your Sr year.
