Pre-Calc or Math IV Honors for IB student?

My son is a sophomore and wants to major in bio-chemistry or animal science at NC State. He is in the IB program and is an A student so far. He doesn’t love math and it’s hardest subject to maintain his A. For next year, he can take either Pre-Calculus or Math IV Honors. He will take IB Math either way his senior year. His preference is Math IV Honors since he has such a heavy load for 11th grade and he is on the school drumline which has a lot of practice. My questions are: Should he take Pre-calculus anyway instead of Math IV? Will Math IV prepare him adequately for IB Math? Will he be at a disadvantage from a college admissions perspective if he doesn’t take Pre-Calc but does have IB Math? Does IB Math cover pre-calculus concepts? I appreciate any advice

Doesn’t Math 4 cover precalculus concepts as well as other concepts? If so, it’d prepare him well for IB math, which includes several branches of math.
What math classes does your school offer (there are 4 – roughly: one SL that covers some precalculus, intro to calc, statistics; one SL that covers calc AB and some stats; one HL that covers calculus BC, algorithms, and statistics, and one that goes further in abstract math. )
