What is the Pre-Med program like at Bowdoin? Is it highly competitive or do students tend to work together more often? How does Bowdoin do in Med school placement?

like most colleges, you cannot major in "Pre-med" at Bowdoin.

I believe all the students who have applied to med school from Bowdoin have gotten in, some to places like stanford, dartmouth, and other top schools

its pretty strong

How difficult is it to maintain a competitive gpa for med school admission.

I would assume that depends on what you major in. According to wikipedia:

the departments with the most rampant grade inflation included theatre and dance, women's studies, and sociology; those with the least grade inflation included physics, economics, philosophy, mathematics and government.

My guess is maintaining a GPA >3.7 as a science major would be pretty impressive.

People do it, though. I know science majors with > 3.9.

It's certainly not impossible.

Highest GPA of Senior Class this year was 3.98 from a physics major. Don’t expect a 4.0, but a 3.7-3.8 is definitely attainable with a reasonable work ethic. I’ve also heard that medical schools, as well as other graduate schools, “add-on” like .1 to your gpa when comparing. This isn’t necessarily true but from my understanding we are viewed as a school with strong academics and relative grade deflation compared to the likes of Harvard, yale, …

Pre-med is competitive. People will work and study together but it is still competitive on tests and to do well in classes. I have not seen anything malicious but people definitely work really hard to get top grades.
Science classes are hard same goes for the labs. Expect a lot of class time as almost all of the premed classes haver required labs which are 3-4 hours depending on the class. But all the same, they stack up fast.

Just like other top schools, Bowdoin places pre-med students in top medical schools frequently.
