Hi, would like if current OSU students could give me an insight on the Pre med track bio…what u would suggest as far as taking what classes in wht semester…etc how hard is it…do u regret it…ur gpa high?..also how is college life on general party every week?..also any other tips would be very appreciated thanks very much.

First off, Ohio state is still on quarters.

Secondly, most med schools require year long courses in chem, ochem, bio, physics, and calclulus. In addition you should probably take a biochem class and a stats class.

I would suggest getting chem, bio and calc out of the way or at least chem and calc freshman year. That leaves ochem and physics for your sophomore year. Or you could take bio and ochem soph year and then take physics junior year.

And of course there are parties every weekend. Its one of the largest universities in the u.s.

“It” is as hard as you make it. I would almost suggest not completing a bio major if you are pre-med. Bio is one of the largest majors. Being just another Bio premed doesn’t make you stand out. Be creative, but I would say it is helpful to pick a major where premed requirements overlap major requirements (Chem, Bio, Microbio, Mol Gen, Physics, etc). This sounds almost cynical, but partying all week might not be a great idea if you want to be a doctor…

Ok, I currently live with three pre-med type majors, one of which is in Bio, one in Pre-Pharmacy, another in Molecular Bio. The one in Bio was nearly a straight A student in high school at a prestigious private school. First chem course: B-, second chem course: B-. Third: C. After a year he is sitting at a much lower than expected gpa. It’s definitely a tough major, especially because most people in your science series courses are also Pre-Med or Engineering students. Keep in mind that most science courses are graded on a curve, so you are competing with hundreds of people just as bright as you to be in the top 12-15% of a class to get an A. That’s a lot of pressure if you ask me, especially when you need really good grades to get into Med School.

Anyways, good luck here. I wouldn’t trade a day here for anything. Go Bucks :)
