Pre-med at TCNJ

My D was admitted to the bio program at TCNJ. She is interested in going to medical school. I have beed searching the internet to find information regarding opportunities for internship and research at this school, but I could not find much.
Is anyone familiar with the school? Here are my questions:

  1. Given the location of the school, how do students find ways to do internships at hospitals?
  2. Since the school is not a research institution, what is the level/quality of students’ research?
  3. I heard that it is not very easy to change major while in school. Is that true?

Thanks for your help!

  1. School is located within 15 minutes of several major hospitals. I personally did an internship at a Trenton hospital’s physical therapy unit. (Trenton, Hopewell, Princeton all have hospitals)
I believe TCNJ had a 7 year direct to med school program, but that wasn’t available in my day.
  2. I did research directly with a PhD full tenured professor starting in my 2nd year. I’m not sure what kind of quality it was ;0 but my work is still cited in other papers on the topic. I liked the fact that I worked directly with a professor. I presented my results at a few conferences.
  3. No idea. I would imagine if you are getting outstanding grades your chances to switch would be better, but that is just my theory.
