Pre-med floors in dorms

S will be in the pre-med program as a freshman this fall. He put down that he’d like to live in West but has since seen there are “specialty” pre-med floors in Marshall (Warren Towers). Anyone out there on the pre-med track who can speak to the advisability (or not) of living with only those also majoring in pre-med? Any advantages or disadvantages? Really appreciate your input as he’d have to call asap to see if he could change his housing survey.

Thanks very much.

My friend just graduated from BU last year and freshman year she lived on the all-girls pre-med floor at Warren. She simply said that she hated it. Her roommate was nice and everything, but she felt like living with all other pre-meds just made everything so much stressfull. All they ever talked about was their grades and they would constantly freak out about getting into med school. When I was considering this floor, she advised me not to because of this reason. She said it’s best to spend time with people of all types of majors and interests so that you don’t get stressed out, and you learn from others as well.

Now this was just her personal experience and opinion. Maybe people like it, I don’t know. That’s just what she told me about it.

in my experience, it really doesnt matter whether or not u live on a specialty floor, especially in regards to premed because about 1/4-1/3 of the incoming class starts out as “pre-med” and it quickly gets diminished in the years to come. you’ll meet other premeds in your lectures, but primarily the smaller sections like discussions and labs, so don’t fret.
