Pre-Med in McGill?

On a scale from 1-10:

a) How recognized (worldwide) is McGill's pre-med program?
b) How hard is it to get in?

And how do pre-med alums from McGill do, as in what types of med schools to they go to?

Sorry not their pre-med program, I mean’t their Life Science Program… Thank you.

bump- I would love to find this out too!

The McGill name is very, very well-respected in the life sciences. I’ve personally heard of more than a few cases of McGill pre-med students who went on to Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins, and the like. My former piano teacher’s son went to MIT for a Ph.D. program after McGill.

well i would say life sci is the only department not falling off in mcgill. i would say its best in canada and top 5 in north america. its not super hard to get in. but you should study hard when you attend. 3.9 can get you into any med school including harvard(of course assuming you have excellent other factors) but its unachievable if you party everyday, etc.

“i would say life sci is the only department not falling off in mcgill”

/facepalm

Life sciences is the most competitive undergraduate program at McGill by admission standards, and while I cannot say for certain how many spots there are I would wager that the answer falls somewhere in the range of “not many.”

Note, of course, that doing a “pre-med” program isn’t a prerequisite for doing medicine.
