pre-med question

im a high school senior and i want to be pre-med.
my question is should i goto ohio state or u miami for pre-med. i have the grades and all to get into miami but ive herd that a high gpa is important. at osu i could get a higher gpa because academics are easier and they have the quarters system where you only take 3 classes at a time. also at ohio state i can get an internship or volunteer at the university hospital because i have a connection there. what is your oninion. also, i dont think money is an option.

Money isn't an... option?

Can you visit the schools and ask around about their resources for pre-med students? You may be able to find out about how successful their graduates were at being admitted to the medical schools of your choice. You will also want to consider the strengths of the departments you may be involved in. Very importantly, find out about the atmosphere and lifestyle of the school, as your happiness is extremely important.

ive visited both school and i would be very happy at both schools. i meant money wont affect my option. im saying if i get saY 3.9 GPA at ohio state and a 3.2 gpa at miami would ohio state be a better choich

If you really think the gap would be .7 points - and I think that is unrealistic - then yes, .7 GPA points would probably be worth it. Such a decision would be pending advising situations, traditional premed acceptance rates, and how well Ben Roethlisberger starts doing as the season progresses.

0.7 gap is ridiculous. There is no way your GPA will be affected by that much b/w Ohio St. and Miami.

not miami university, university of miami in florida

It's still a very large, unrealistically assumed gap.

And Miami in Florida is not that much harder than Ohio State (depending on which courses you take, of course), so there's no way your GPA would differ by 0.7 just because of the school choice. OSU has a lot of resources (many nearby hospitals, lots of professors looking for research assistants, and great opportunities offered only to honors students) that I'm not sure Miami has, mostly due to the fact that OSU is the largest (4-year campus-based) university in the country!

I don't even think there is a 0.7 GPA gap b/w Harvard and OSU (assuming the person is qualified for both schools).

You are considering UM and OSU, but why not UF for Pre-med?

well both these schools i have family near. its not limiting but it offers some security.
