Is Caltech good for preparing its students for medical school? I heard the difficulty of caltech works against students because pre-meds need high GPA for med schools, and it's near impossible to get high grades in caltech. Perrhaps less intense schools like Berkeley and UCLA are better for getting into med schools?

I think (but am not sure) that admissions is instituting a new program where 6 people will be given admission to UCSD medical school with their admission to Caltech as a freshman. That would be good for pre-meds.

It is definitely possible to get high grades at Caltech. But hey, UCLA/UCB might be easier. If that's your cup of tea, go for it.

Caltech is suboptimal for some premeds. Think hard about why you want to go here. If it's for the right reasons, you'll probably do well and be happy. If it's just the "best" school you got into and you go for that reason, you might regret the decision later.

Where did you get this info?

The newspaper, and the Officers of the Faculty (a standing faculty committee). But this is starting next year, so the plan is not currently in effect.

ah.... thats too bad. Being in class of 2006 sucks
