Hi, I'm an incoming freshman for Fall 2008. I'm really confused about what to do for class pre-registration on StudentAcess. How do I know what classes am I supposed to pick exactly? Help, anyone?

Sorry if this sounds noob... :(

You should have gotten a big booklet in the mail explaining how to choose classes. This will tell you what core requirement classes you need to take. Try to take as many of those as you can freshman year, especially Problem of God/BibLit, the math/science requirement(if you're in the college), and the language requirement. If you think you know what you want to major in, take the first class/prereqs for that.

You also should be receiving an email from your Peer Advisor (again, if you're in the college, not sure about the other schools). I was a College peer advisor last year, so feel free to PM me with any more specific questions.

Thank you for answering my question... I'm accepted into COL, but it seems that I have yet to receive my pre-registration packet. I'm a little worried though about the mail. (I've never even gotten my NETID mail. I had to e-mail the school's office to get my password.) I hope the packet does get here soon... Say, does the degree audit also tell me how to pick classes?

Hey I'm going to be a junior, but I have a friend who is an incoming froshie also and had a chance to talk to him about what kind of info he's gotten a hold of so far-- so take everything i say here with a grain of salt.
He got the info packet late last week, and in it appeared to be a very lengthy description of the prereg process complete with pictures and diagrams (wish they had sent that to us 2 years ago... lucky). he also said he got the email address and stuff a while ago.

So, I'd say call the admission's office/dean's office tomorrow if you haven't even gotten the netid and stuff yet.
have you started using charms and stuff already?

ps. when you do get a look at the packet, there's a picture of my class on the second to last page! hella exciting. but you can only see like a tiny corner of my head. bummer.

Rainlotte, you're an international or something, I really think the packet should have arrived by now . Not getting your netID information makes it sound like there's some serious gap in the 'Georgetown ==> you' mailing system. Call them and double check they have your right address.

Um... I have gotten my NETID and password via e-mail, and I've started CHARMS already. Although I'm not an international student, I do live pretty far from the mainland--somewhere in the Pacific, and no, it's not Hawaii. Lol. I think my mailing address should be right. I did receive my pre-orientation packet. The pre-registration packet should be mailed out by late June, right? So maybe I should wait for another week or so?

It can't hurt to make a quick phone call or send an email to the freshman dean's office, they are the ones in charge of preregistration, rather than admissions. Most likely it's in the mail though, and is just taking longer because you live further away. The incoming freshman I know from MA just got his packet late last week, so it hasn't been too long since they've mailed them, I'm assuming.
