My son had two auditions that were scheduled with a week, and we also didn't know his actual times or dates until quite close to that week. Also, he had two auditions scheduled for the same day (in two different cities), and the schools were accommodating about rescheduling one of them. If you pass the pre-screen, they want to see you, and seem to be open to trying to find a time that is convenient for you and for them. They won't be able to open up a totally separate audition day just for your instrument, if the adjudicators aren't available that day, but it is usually worth asking, in the event there are conflicts, particularly with other auditions.

I called BoCo and if you are invited to audition, they will let you know the times available on the specific dates that are posted.

I did not ask but they offered the following information - they should be sending out prescreening results by Friday via email.

Best to all!

Good job with the call. When my D started the process, she was hesitant to call with questions. She somehow thought they would magically figure out who she was, decide she was high maintenance, and hold it against her. She found, instead, that they really were there to help.

My daughter got an email today with a positive response from Juilliard (violin performance) so she is extremely happy!

Some great opportunities here...such talent....good luck to all!

Bluepearl - huge congrats and break a leg to your daughter!

Cartera - thank you for the support.

SJTH--I don't remember New School and MSM having the same week for the same instrument.I don't know about Mannes--its a classical conservatory only--no jazz. Each school generally has a two-week period for the majority of auditions. And NEC and The New School were within the same two days. You can call the admissions office at New School and ask when your son's instrument will be auditioned. They probably know already, but if they are saying March, it will be a couple of weeks in March for everyone.

Jazzzmom, they said there would be Feb. and March audition days at the New School, and you could choose, but without knowing the actual dates. I guess I'll give them a call. Feb. we have a number of auditions, and March a number of school commitments, so it would be great to know a date, assuming he gets an audition! thanks!

Son just heard from Eastman by e-mail that he is invited to audition for the vocal program. He has not yet been assigned an audition date. His first choice is the Jan 30 audition date. His file was complete on Nov 19.

Tell your son congrats! Looks like his audition season is starting to shape up nicely. Hopefully lots of nice results to follow.

Thanks, EW'smom! She is so thrilled about Juilliard. March seems like a long way away for her, but it's not

My D got an invitation from Eastman today with a Jan. 30 audition date. She applied on 11/2. She's still waiting to hear from NEC and BoCo.

Hi guys! I've been reading this thread for a long time, felt like contributing to it.

Applied violin to 5 schools (USC Thornton, Juilliard, CIM, Curtis, NEC) and have gotten positive results (and audition dates!) from all except NEC, which I'm still waiting for.

Juilliard emailed me today giving me a choice of dates for when my preferred teacher is available. I really wish NEC would get a move on, I need to solidify my travel plans.

Anyone else here live on the West Coast and are preparing to endure the chilly East?

For those auditioning at Eastman:

From Priceline, I got the Hyatt for $50/night (1/29-1/31). It rejected $49, so $50 is the price.

DS got his email from Eastman at 10:30pm last night!! He will audition in vocal performance.
Feb 6 was his top choice. His email did not explain whether that was his date or not either.

OperaDad, how did you determine that you got your first choice date? OK, I see from DS's email that the date will be sent in the next day or so. I can't imagine the logistical issues here!

Congrats to everyone, and good luck!

Juggling Mom. my D got one email regarding passing the pre-screen and a separate one with her date on it. The audition date was the later one of the two, but both were in her email box yesterday evening. The 'congrats' notice was sent at around 3PM. I didn't catch the time on the audition confirmation.

congratulations to all of these talented musicians for their first achievements in the audition season and good luck on the live auditions!

Re Eastman: First e-mail around Noon saying Congradulations. Second e-mail about 3 hours later with the date confirmation.

FYI: It seems like you don't get your time slot in advance. So, be prepared to arrive at 9am, and be there all day. They said 10pm for voice (except for Jan 30, when they anticiapte being done by 6pm).

BTW: I got this e-mail (a little late) in response to an e-mail asking about results:

Date: Jan 9, 2009

"We hope to have all applicants notified by Wednesday of next of their prescreening results. The result will be sent via email."

Just got an email 2 minutes ago from NEC - passed the pre-screen!

Still no audition date, I'm guessing they're still hashing out their schedules.
