precalc grade dropped, but I'm not slacking..oh no!! now what?!

I've had an A+ in Precalc from first quarter, but at the end of 3rd quarter I BARELY got it. I started the final fourth quarter off w/ Bs and B+s on my tests (tests are the only grades in the gradebook for precalc, the grade is not based on homework). I studied for every test, did all my homework, redid all my homework (everything I've done for ALL my precalc tests from day one).

After every B (only 2), I told myself the next test I would try harder and I kept telling myself to study, and I did. My current grade is an 84%, and we took a test today. I haven't gotten back my results, but I know I got at most an A-. Our teacher adds 3% of EC if you do your homework, and we have one more test left. If I get an A+ on it (yes, I WILL keep studying), the most I can get is an A- w/ extra credit at the end of the quarter...only if I get an A+ on the test.

The CATCH....I've had a B+ in Spanish 4H and AP Chem since 1st quarter. Right now, I have an A+ in Spanish 4H and an A in AP Chem (really close to an A+). I'm still trying hard in these classes because I'm really close and I'm not about to let anything drop these grades.

If I am unlucky and get a B+ or A- in Precalc from 3 straight quarters of A+s, do you think the huge improvement in Span and Chem from a B+ to an A/A+ would show I'm NOT slacking...to colleges. I am NOT slacking, but I can't just go up to an admissions officer and say that, PLUS I was going to use my precalc teacher as a rec for college...I just want reassurance, but what do you think???

I'm still trying, but I think my confidence during math tests has decreased...idk what's going on with me...but I was doing great, now I'm doing horrible.

My other grades are all A+s and have not changed (AP Bio, Orch, English,)

and I guess now I really have to do well on the final…

Do not stress. With an A in AP chem and A’s in your AP bio and Spanish 4H, you should be fine. My best advice to you is to prioritize PreCalc until the end of school. It seems that your grades are based off a priorities system, seeing as a drop in one stems off a rise in another. Study Pre-Calc hard, go to your teacher for extra help. I have found that it is best to get a strong relationship with your teacher. Who knows, it could be the difference between an 89 and a 90, benefit of the doubt.

I know exactly how you feel–I used to ace every math test I took easily, but everb since about 2 and a half years ago it changed out of nowhere. Concepually, I have no trouble understanding math, but I just make dumb mistakes.

That wasn’t exactly an uplifting tale, but the things I have done to help are to go as slow as I can on the test and then check until the very end. Additionally, I study LESS now for math tests because I think some of my errors result from knowing the material too well. Just make sure you know the material well enough, but not too well.

I was in a similar position to your’s about 2 weeks ago; I had to do well in order to scrape by with an A, and I got a 98 on the final.

Good luck!

thanks! Made me feel better…lol I just don’t want to face that dreaded grade tomorrow.
