Which one would you take??

could u take both? That is what i would do.

Both. I took calculus and stat this year.

Statistics is a pointless and idiotic class, but has an extremely easy AP. Precalculus will prep you for the Calculus AP class (AB or BC) and it’ll look great on your transcript that you have both Calc & Stat.

Personally, I would take H. Pre-Calc and self-study AP Stat, if there wasn’t an issue with time.

But IMO, Pre-Calc is more important because it lays a foundation for AP Calc.

I’m not allowed to take two math classes.

And can’t you also self-study for Precalculus? It’s basically like a broad review of Algebra 2 and Trigonometry with bits of new things and an intro for limits.

I self-studied precalculus about 2 weeks in the summer (procrastination my oh my), and I went from Algebra II to AP Calculus BC, and I ended up fine with a 5. AP Statistics might be a good GPA booster (it’s a really easy class at my school):

good luck!!! :D

Stats is way easier than precalc. If you end up self-studying one, do stats.

Precalc I don’t think was all that useful in calculus, outside of the unit circle, basic trig identities, and limits. Maybe it’s a little more useful in BC calc with polar curves. In my experience it taught me a bunch of stuff I never needed in calc.

I’d personally do stats and get an easy A and 5 on the test.

Okay, I chose AP Statistics and I heard from my other AP Stats peers that it was an easy class. And a lot of my college buddies told me they self-studied precalculus and easily passed the Calculus placement exam, so I doubt it’ll be a sweat.

Take Pre-Cal. Unless you have an amazing teacher for Calculus and you are incredibly mathematicaly intelligent, self-studying pre-cal is no easy matter.

I took both concurrently. But Honors Precalc is more challenging and is preparation for Calc, so I would that Precalc is more important. You can always take Stat another year.

tbh at some schools (most) AP stats is easy. there are kids on the highest math track : 9th algebra 2 honors, 10th precalc honors, 11th ap calc bc, and 12th ap stats. i asked math teachers, they said at our school at stats is easier, but definitely not easy. i even asked a senior who took ap calc bc as a junior (earliest possible at our school) and got a 5 and high A in class (not even close to easy at school, but precalc honors is widely known as the hardest math class). she said that AP stats is actually pretty hard, if you underestimate it it will bite you.
Defintely Pre-Calc. You can take Stats any time, but Pre-Calc will prepare you for Calc. I wouldn’t self study it. It’s too important.
