It’s almost impossible to make a prediction without knowing what your essays are like since after scores and what not are good enough, the character you present to colleges through your essays is what makes the difference between acceptance and rejection. From your posts you sound kind of arrogant…if that is reflected at all in your essays then your chances will definitely decrease.

Really? With a 2390 and 36, you are just posting to brag. Don’t be one of those annoying people. Just keep this to yourself and apply.

Exactly… he has a thread about an “interesting dilemma” regarding his act scores. What is this dilemma? Having twice received a 36 on the act. While this would be an accomplishment, flaunting any accomplishment pretty much nullifies it and makes you look desperate for attention. If colleges catch even a whiff of this kind of attitude, rejection becomes almost certain.

accepted everywhere.

@daintychemist @whuffy Whoa, whoa, I’m not trying to start anything. I’m sorry if I came off as arrogant, I really didn’t mean it in that way at all. I am honestly just trying to get information and input from other people, as my family has had no experience whatsoever with applying to college over here in the States.

My other post about my ACT scores was probably titled a bit arrogantly, but I just did that to get more views, which would lead to more input and more information, which I really needed at that point.

It’s really easy to be misinterpreted over the internet, so I’m sorry if you think that I was bragging. Everybody already should know that chance threads are pointless anyway, I’m not expecting any groundbreaking insight to my chances, but rather a general kinda feel. I’m just another kid who is completely stressed out about the college application process, and just posted this chance thread as a way to maybe relieve some stress and hopefully feel better about the immense odds we all face of rejection. :/

It’s quite alright Jonathan; I understand. It just pains me when I know intelligent individuals whom I would admire, but find myself cringing at their desperate flauntations for attention. The value of humility and a down-to-earth attitude should never be underestimated–especially in the college admissions process. The strongest and most respectable people, in my opinion, are the ones who are highly accomplished and still modest.

Sometimes, regardless of intention, it is important to consider how one will be perceived by others. Yes it is easy to be misinterpreted over the internet… but then isn’t it also easy to be misinterpreted by admissions officers in the same way?

Don’t stress too much about the college admissions process… college alone never brought anyone real success. Success in the end depends solely on the individual. I wish you luck :)

btw… you remind me of someone I know

How can people say rejceted with this type of profile ? Waitlisted maybe. It makes no sense, because rejected means that they found enough people with stronger profile to fill their whole program ? This guy has a near perfect résumé. MIT has 12 % admit rate but everyone is acting as if they accepted two people out of millions. Same thing with other ivies, their rate is always 5%+. This guy is not top 5%, this guy is top 1% or something.

I wish I had your stats, those are amazing.

I can’t believe you retook a 36 ACT. I think Stanford is honestly going to reject you for that, because they will think you have nothing better to do with your life.

LOL ^

Accepted everywhere

@jpdaman11‌ Haha me or Jonathan?

@meriks The problem is that colleges don’t fill their programs with only the strongest profiles. They consider a number of different factors in order to have a diverse class. I have talked to admissions officers at colleges that have said they rejected half of the perfect sat score applicants. It’s really all just a crapshoot.
