cmon guys

Recreational Sports?

LOL

...sorry just had to laugh at that... never knew desperate applicants wrote that on there...

you seem like the average applicant aspiring for those universities in my opinion..

im not here to judge chances, cuz i dont have that knowledge yet, cause im a junior to applying in november...

All i can say is, Good Luck man, keep those figures up, and those ECs glamourous.

lol yeah... idk why i put recreational sports =D

*this is constructive criticism

Your GPA is very good -- make sure you maintain it junior year (is your school competitive?)

Don't predict SAT Scores, especially at that high a level, it can be misleading, albeit unintentionally. Wait until you receive your scores to post test scores (just some my 2 cents there, though)

A lot of schools have become skeptic about students taking foreign language test that they already are a native speaker in (i.e. Hispanics taking SAT II Spanish, Chinese taking SAT II Chinese.) I hope that is not the case with you, which would make your SAT II Chinese score very impressive.

Leadership, Leadership, Leadership. You have some very good ECs (SSP, Research in Graph Theory, Marching Band,) but what most colleges want to see today is demonstration of leadership ability. Hopefully you can become an officer in one of the clubs that you truly are passionate about, because status quo, the only activity that could hint at leadership would be drum major next year)

That being said, and keeping in mind all of these are pending SAT Scores...

Northwestern - match
Harvard- high reach
Princeton- high reach
Yale- high reach
UPenn - mid reach
Carnegie Mellon - match
Dartmouth - slight reach
Columbia - reach
Cornell - slight reach
Rutgers- safety
U Chicago - this one is a 'toughie,' UChicago has become much more selective, while maintaining that same 'quirkiness' which admissions. If you write essays that cater to that style of thought, while maintain a true and sincere voice, I would think you would have a solid shot here too.

You need more low-match schools. I would recommend NYU, BC, etc.

hope this helps!

Thanks alot for you advice Md Hopeful. I really appreciate it

And yeah, our school is pretty competitive. People usually end up in good schools. This year, we have like 3 going to Harvard, 8 to Princeton, 5 to MIT, etc... It's crazy.

Bumppppppp

Northwestern- Match
Harvard- HIGH reach
Princeton--HIGH reach
Yale- High Reach
UPenn- Reach (depending to the school you apply; Wharton would be a rejection)
Carnegie Mellon- Match
Dartmouth- Slight reach
Columbia- high Reach
Cornell- Low Reach
Rutgers- Match
U Chicago- Match

Man... And I really want to go to Wharton. Any suggestions on what to improve?

to be honest, Wharton is a very long shot for several reasons. First off, it's Wharton, lol. Secondly, you really seem to be more interested in the math/sciences than business, and if your application is anything like this chance thread, it will come off very strongly. And lastly, it really seems that you have no business-related extracurriculars, something that is almost essential to get into Wharton.

to be succinct: Sure, apply to Wharton and hope for the best, the the reality is that your chances are not very good. If I were you, I would make sure I really wanted to do business and fall in love with one of your match/slight reach schools.

Thanks Md. The truth is... the "business" clubs in our schools kinda suck.

I joined the Future Business Leaders of America for one year, and well, it wasn't productive at all. It was more like "the doing nothing club".

And well, I recently joined the Economics Club and I'll see how it fares. =/

Anyways, I'll take a look at it and try to have fun with it. There's always a chance. =D

bump?????????
